Natalia Baquero

Costume designer

When Natalia moved from Colombia to Montreal, she specialized in costume design for circus and special events. Shortly after, she joined the Cirque du Soleil team in the hat and headpieces department. It was there that she fell in love with creating luxury accessories and working with beautiful materials.

In 2014, she decided to start her own business full-time, focusing on the arts and entertainment industry. Natalia designed and created hats, headpieces, and costumes for her clients Cirque du Soleil, 45 Degrees, Cirque Éloïze, Bijoux Caroline Néron, Veuve Clicquot and Manina World, just to name a few.

With determination, hard work and constant learning, Natalia became recognized for her inventiveness and high level of technical expertise. That experience was coupled with rigorous training with well-known and respected milliners to perfect the concept, designs and quality behind her creations. Aer years of effort and dedication, her creative dreams became a reality. In addition to her known Costume Design creations, in 2017, she launched her Natalia Baquero Millinery brand of high-end, refined hats and headpieces.

Her creative process is based on experimenting and exploring new forms of craftmanship that can transform traditional Millinery to new grounds of innovation through a multi-disciplinary approach of collaborations with artists, photographers and performing artists.

Drawing inspiration from her Colombian roots and her constant search for transformation, Natalia decided to work very closely with artisan communities from her native country and Canada to blend the past and the future into a distinct version of the present by fusing art and traditional Millinery craftmanship. Natalia's engagement with important collaborations, such as fashion designer Denis Gagnon, art photographer Damian Siqueiros and renowned fashion stylists, brought her great visibility in fashion magazines and music videos. Her perseverance and commitment to revitalize and fortify the craft and contribute wisely to the fashion and entertainment industry has put Natalia in the spotlight.

Today, Natalia Baquero continues to work at her countryside studio, where new ideas are born. Custom orders are meticulously created for her global clientele, each creation passing through the designer's own hands.
