Mariya Moneva

Cultural Manager

Mariya Moneva is a cultural administration specialist trained in social sciences and humanities, with a multifaceted career as a project manager, coordinator, producer, tour manager, consultant and company director. She works primarily in the field of performing arts in Canada and internationally.

Mariya’s expertise is substantial – she has led 33 international tour projects in 23 different countries for the worldwide-renowned company Cirque Eloize. Through the years, she has participated in the production of many shows, exhibitions and other artistic events in the Montreal area. Since 2017, she has been occupying the position of general manager for the Montreal-based company Sinha Danse, and she has been seating on the board of directors of another contemporary dance company - Zab Maboungou / Compagnie de danse Nyata Nyata.

Mariya holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Sofia and a Diploma in Arts & Cultural Industries Management from HEC Montreal. She is particularly interested in studying contemporary cultural and artistic practices coming from and (or) inspired by traditional knowledge. This led her to dedicate a big part of her personal time to continuous learning in dance within the framework of the professional development program PEFAPDA, led by the exceptional contemporary dance choreographer and philosopher of movement Zab Maboungou.

Mariya is particularly fascinated by the potential of art to help tackle problematic questions and realities and to continuously recreate, renew and reshape our connection to life, community and nature. Therefore, she is incredibly grateful for having the chance to join an extraordinary collective effort to bring forward and explore those connections and to offer her contribution to the Terrarium project as a cultural adviser
